“KITAP Holds a Joyful and Impactful PNTG 2025 at Hacienda Gracita”
by Corral, Alvin John
The Kidney Transplant Association of the Philippines (KITAP) recently celebrated another successful chapter of camaraderie, competition, and community at the Philippine National Transplant Games (PNTG) 2025, held last May 3–4 at the beautiful Hacienda Gracita in Mendez, Tagaytay.
This year, 74 participants—a spirited mix of kidney recipients, living donors, and dedicated caregivers—came together for two days of fun, friendship, and friendly rivalry. With everyone participating actively, the games buzzed with energy and encouragement.
Adding color and creativity to the event were four newly formed teams with imaginative names: Team Bluehawi, Yellowlicious, Happy Berde, and Tarampula. These teams brought not only a splash of excitement but also showcased unity and enthusiasm through cheers, collaboration, and sportsmanship.
New games and activities also made their debut this year. Highlights included the Strategical Team Games, the mentally and physically engaging Human Maze, and the crowd-favorite Obstacle Game, all facilitated by the energetic staff of Hacienda Gracita. Of course, well-loved classics such as Darts, Billiards, Frisbee, Chess, Scrabble, Tug of War, Ball Shoot, and Basketball continued to thrill participants.
Among the standout teams, Team Happy Berde kept spirits high with their lively and infectious cheers. Team Yellowlicious impressed with their grace and unwavering smiles, win or lose. Team Bluehawi showed strength in the major team games, particularly in Basketball and Strategic events. Ultimately, it was Team Tarampula who emerged as the PNTG 2025 Champions, proving that winning can go hand-in-hand with humility and fun.
Special recognition was given to those who embodied the heart of the games. The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Rose Ann Acerden and “Kabyaherong Mangyan” Marcel de Torres, who consistently showed fairness and respect. Meanwhile, the prestigious Player of the Year Award went to the dynamic duo of Odessey Ann Royo and Rolly Pura, both now part of PNTG’s Hall of Fame, for their inspiring performance and perseverance post-transplant.
While medals and trophies were awarded, the real prize was evident in every smile, cheer, supportive tap on the shoulder, and helping hand extended. It was a celebration of life, strength, and community.
PNTG continues to stand for more than just games—it reflects being Passionate, giving one’s best effort; Nourishing, offering emotional and physical uplift; Talented, recognizing hidden abilities; and Generous, sharing oneself with others.
Here’s to another memorable and meaningful PNTG—may the spirit of unity and resilience stay strong in KITAP’s culture. See you again next year!
