Honoring Life, Gratitude, and Second Chances
With heartfelt enthusiasm and commitment, the Kidney Transplant Association of the Philippines, Inc. (KITAP) proudly joined the NKTI management, staff, and doctors in celebrating World Kidney Day at the Vita Infinitum (Infinity of Life) monument. This powerful symbol represents the enduring impact of organ donation—a continuation of life made possible through the ultimate act of sacrifice and kindness by our nation’s unsung heroes.
🙏 A Celebration of Faith and Remembrance
The event opened with a Eucharistic Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Andrew Seo, MI, setting a reflective and spiritual tone for the day. A moving tribute to deceased organ donors followed, symbolized by the release of pigeons—a gesture of hope, peace, and gratitude.
🎬 KITAP Fundraiser: “KITA-KITAP Film Showing”
In the afternoon, KITAP launched its fundraising initiative with a special screening of the film Seven Pounds through the program “KITA-KITAP Film Showing.” The movie’s themes of selflessness and second chances struck a deep chord with members and guests alike.
🎶 Kidney Melody: Music from the Heart
This was followed by “Kidney Melody,” a heartwarming musical presentation hosted by NKTI’s Adult Nephrology Department, blending music and compassion in honor of kidney warriors and donors.
💬 Stories That Inspire
Transplant patients shared powerful testimonials:
- Mr. Jay Ibo, a kidney recipient for 21 years, spoke about his remarkable journey and achievements in athletics.
- Mr. Emmanuel Dela Cruz, former KITAP President, recounted a deeply emotional story of a father’s trust and a son’s life-saving gift.
🌟 A Tribute to Our Unsung Heroes
The Adult Nephrology team also showcased their musical talents in a mini-concert filled with joy and gratitude. The day culminated in a touching tribute to our social workers, led by Ms. Leonides Basada, MSSD Division Chief, recognizing their unwavering dedication to transplant patients and their families.

This year’s World Kidney Day was a beautiful reminder of the gift of organ donation, the strength of the human spirit, and the power of community.
